The Saudi civil aviation authority has declared PIA as the 'best airline operator' among 74 international airlines operating from the Hajj terminal in that country.
PIA's spokesperson Syed Sultan Hasan informed the media team visiting Saudi Arabia here on Sunday and presented them with copies of the certification provided by General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) of King Abdul Aziz International Airport, Saudi Arabia.
GACA said that they closely monitored activities of all airlines operating from the Hajj terminal at Jeddah and viewed that PIA had again proved itself to be the 'best operator' on the basis of regularity as well as services provided. GACA said that PIA demonstrated an "exceptional value by overcoming the delay factor of departures during the initial two days of post-Hajj operation."
For the last three years, PIA is being declared as most excellent airline by GACA.
"This is the third consecutive year starting from 2010 that PIA has been chosen by the Saudi Arabia's civil aviation (authority) as the 'best Hajj flight operator'", the spokesman said.
Meanwhile, the national flag carrier's post-Hajj operation was going in a smooth manner. So far, nearly 34,000 pilgrims had returned via 80 special Hajj flights over the past 13 days. In addition, about 6,000 returned through its scheduled flights.
PIA is operating 13 flights daily from Jeddah for the returning Hujjaj. This includes some nine special Hajj flights and two or three scheduled flights. These flights are being operated for Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Quetta and Peshawar.
