Serena Hotels held their Annual Invitational Golf Tournament at the Islamabad Golf Club last Saturday. It was a well-attended affair with over 85 participants including ambassadors, CEOs and directors of esteemed ministries and organisations playing for an 18-holematch. The morning started with the registration of the golfers. Each golfer was also provided with an elaborate startup pack courtesy of Serena Hotels.
Guests included representatives from European Union, HBL, Telenor, KPMG, British High Commission and the Embassies of the Republic of Korea, Turkey, Sri Lanka, Brunei and Norway. H E Rodolfo Martin Saravia, Ambassador of the Argentine Republic and Akbarali Pesnani, Chairman Aga Khan Cultural Services Pakistan gave away the Serena trophies and prizes to the winners.
The prizes for first, second and third Gross went to Ibrar Khan, Major Afzal (Retd) and Faisal Jamil respectively, while winners of the first, second and third Net were Major Farrukh Kamal (Retd), Aftab Chaudhry and Jim Costen respectively. The prize for the 'Longest Drive' was won by Umar Khokhar for hitting a 321 yard distance, 'Closest to Pin' (12 yards away from pin) by Bob Light while Major Farrukh Kamal (Retd) was declared the winner of the Serena Hotels Golf Tournament trophy for 2012. Aziz Boolani, CEO of Serena Hotels, in his acknowledgement address commented that this was the first in Serena Hotel's annual series of golf tournaments and hoped that it would continue to be as successful as this one held in November 2012.-PR
