Former Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani will not appear before any official of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on November 16. However, his counsel will join the investigation, family sources said here on Wednesday. An official of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) served a notice on former Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani at his Multan residence where he is staying to see his family.
FIA has summoned former prime minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on November 16(Friday) in the Haj scam probe. The notice No FIA/SIU/C-3/2011/067, received by the Gilani House here on Tuesday, was issued on November 8 under the signature of PSP Director/Commandant Husain Asghar. The notice referred to the hearing of a suo motu case during which the director general Haj had been questioned before the Supreme Court.
During the investigation one of the witnesses said that Shakeel Ahmed Rao had disclosed that he had managed to get himself posted as Director General Haj for monetary consideration. The notice said that the summary for selection/approval of director general Haj comprised three officers, including Rao Shakeel Ahmed, against whom some NAB cases were under investigation/trial. "In order to verify the veracity of said allegation and to reach a logical conclusion, it is requested to kindly attend this office on 16/11/2012 at 11 am to clarify the above mentioned facts," the notice asked Mr Gilani. Abdul Qadar Gilani son of Ex-premier confirmed the service of a notice to his father by FIA.
