Karachi Water and Sewerage Board eliminated an illegal hydrant in the Surjani Town jurisdiction. FIR has been lodged against 5 alleged culprits for water theft from 24-inch diameter line. This operation was executed as a part of the drive against illegal hydrants as per the directions of Sindh High Court.
In this regard, KWSB team led by Chief Engineer Water Trunk Main Anwar Saeed comprising of SE Asif Qadri, Assistant Engineer Imran Abdullah and others with DSP CIA Rao Aslam raided an illegal hydrant next to Surjani Chungi. The workers of tanker mafia ran away as soon as the raid commenced.
Whereas, KWSB team with the help of Police disconnected all the illegal connections. The water mafia has acquired 4 illegal connections from 24-inch diameter main line, which supplied water to New Karachi and the surrounding areas. KWSB team disconnected all the connections and pealed off all the lines going to the illegal hydrant. Later on, FIR number 328/2012 was lodged at the Mango Pir Police Station against the water mafia leader Badshah Khan and his goons namely, Afzal Hassan Chandio, Zulfiqar Chandio and Maashooq Chandio.-PR
