The Lahore High Court Chief Justice here on Monday adjourned hearing till November 26 of a petition filed by former president of Bank of Punjab Hamesh Khan, involved in Rs 9 billion loan scam, praying for transfer of his case. The petitioner accused the Accountability Court judge of being biased and not holding proceedings as per the law.
The petitioner's counsel Azam Nazir expressed no hope of justice from the judge, and hence prayed for transfer of case to any other judge of the accountability courts. Earlier, the Accountability Court Judge Nisar Baig submitted his reply on Monday and stated that the trial of the case against the petitioner was being held without any fear or favour. He said no violation of any law had been made during the hearing of the case.
The CJ adjourned the proceedings till next date and direct the petitioner's counsel to come up with further arguments. Hamesh Khan and others are accused of sanctioning billions of rupees loans in violation of the rules of the BoP.
