The law enforcement agencies have received reports that more miscreants moved out from Miranshah and entered different cities, said Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Wednesday. "After arrest of a 12-year-old boy in Peshawar, law enforcement agencies had some fresh information about terrorists," he said while talking to media after chairing meeting on security.
The meeting reviewed law and order and security situation in the federal capital and arrangements made for Muharram-ul-Haram and D-8 Summit which will continue on Thursday (today). He also announced that there would be a local holiday in federal capital on Thursday (today) on the eve of D-8 Summit. All the institutions would remain closed in Islamabad on the eve of D-8 conference; however, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Foreign Affair, Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration, Capital Development Authority (CDA), Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO), Senate and National Assembly will remain open.
The Interior Minister said that ban on mobile phone service in Islamabad on ninth and 10th Muharram was yet to be decided; however the Army would be called for maintenance of peace and tranquillity in the city. Motorcyclists would not be allowed to participate in mourning processions, he said. Commenting on Ajmal Kassab, he said the heirs of Ajmal had not communicated with the government but it would discuss the matter with Indian authorities to take back his corpse to Pakistan.
The meeting was attended by Secretary Interior, Secretary Foreign Affairs, Chief Commissioner, Islamabad, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad and DG (NCMC). The meeting decided that there would be a local holiday in ICT on Thursday on the eve of D-8 Summit. All schools, colleges and educational institutions (Public & Private) will remain close on November 22.
The meeting decided that no motorcycle shall be allowed in Red Zone as well as no member of general public was allowed to enter the Red Zone on November 22, except authorised persons. The meeting further decided that no heavy vehicle shall be allowed to enter in ICT from mid night today as well as construction activity and transfer of construction material will not be allowed in ICT from mid night today.
