Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ameer Haider Khan Hoti has launched skill development programme of provincial health department under Provincial Health Services Academy in a revered gathering at Chief Minister House on Wednesday.
Under the programme 449 people will be provided higher education through scholarships in prominent quality institutes like Khyber Medical University Peshawar, Post Graduate College of Nursing Hayatabad, Agha Khan University Karachi, Shifa College of Nursing Islamabad, and King Edwards Medical University Lahore. The programme included 80 scholarships for Directorate of Physiotherapy, 157 for BSc Nursing Four Years Programme, 200 for in-service Nurses in B.Sc Post Registered Nursing Two Years Program, and 12 scholarships in M.Sc Nursing for in Service Nurses.
The programme will cost Rs 732 million in coming five years Chairman Provincial Assembly Standing Committee on Health MPA Jaffar Shah, Secretary Health, Muhammad Ashfaq and Special Secretary Noor-ul-Eman were also present on the occasion. The chief minister said that importance of nurse in services and treatment to ailing humanity was central and unfortunately this sector was ignored in past of attention it deserved.
He said that like other programmes for eradication of unemployment, poverty and illiteracy, this programme was also kept free from political interference and nepotism. He said that investment in education and health sectors was the guarantee of healthy and educated society.
