A French team investigating the Yasser Arafat arrived in Ramallah Friday, an official on the committee investigating the 2004 demise of the former Palestinian president said. Other teams participating in the probe are expected to arrive Sunday. The teams are to investigate the exact causes of Arafat's death, following accusations he was poisoned.
Workmen began opening Arafat's tomb ten days ago, in order to exhume his body. Work on opening the grave should be completed by Monday, the committee member, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said. Test results should be known within days, or by the end of the year, he said. Arafat died in a French hospital on November 11, 2004. Medical records showed he died of a brain haemorrhage, caused by a bowel infection.
