The Meteorological Department forecast scattered thunderstorm/rain with snowfall over the hills in parts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhaw, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir, Balochistan and Punjab today. It said light rain is also expected over KPK, Quetta, Zhob, Kalat, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujranwala and Lahore divisions. Mist would continue over the plain areas of Punjab.
It said yesterday's westerly wave over north-east of Afghanistan is now affecting upper parts of the country. The weather would be partly cloudy with chances of thunderstorm/light rain. It would remain dry over the most parts of the country after 36 hours, it added. The Met Office recorded light rains in mm on Wednesday as follows: Parachinar 12, Dir 09, Lower Dir 06, Malamjabba 05, Chitral, Pattan and Saidu Sharif 04 (each) Samungli, Drosh and Kalam 03 (each, Peshawar and Risalpur 02 (each), Mianwali, Kohat Rawalakot and Cherat 01 (each) Mangla, Islamabad, Shorkot, Joharabad, DI Khan, Chakwal, Murree, Bannu, Balakot and Kabul trace (each)
The Met Office recorded lowest minimum temperature in Pakistan minus - 2 Centigrade at Gupis and highest minimum temperature 32.5 C at Hyderabad. As the black clouds overcast the Lahore city Wednesday afternoon, the weather turned cool and pleasant. Minimum temperature was recorded 8.3 centigrade Celsius and maximum at 25. C. Water inflow in river Indus at Tarbela dam was recorded 23,000 cusecs, outflow 69,000 cusecs and in river Jhelum at Mangla inflow was 9,208 cusecs and outflow 30,000 cusecs.
