Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Health Khawaja Salman Rafique has said that a comprehensive programme has been chalked out throughout the province to rid all government hospitals of rodents, bugs, cats and stray dogs. The Health department has issued written instructions in this regard to all the principals of government medical colleges, MSs of hospitals and EDOs health of all districts.
They have been instructed to submit their compliance certificate regarding effective implementation of approved Standard Operating Procedures within three days. Salman Rafique said the sad incident which took place at Holy Family Hospital Rawalpindi would not be allowed to be repeated, whereas clear instructions had been issued to the administrations of all government hospitals in this regard.
He said the Chief Minister Punjab had taken serious cognizance of deplorable incident of rodent of new-born baby in Holy Family Hospital Rawalpindi, and had directed to rectify the situation and improve the condition by taking necessary steps in this regard. The Special Assistant said that senior doctors and other staff accused of negligence had already been suspended.
He directed that all hospitals would undertake eradicating activities for rodent control at least twice a month, while a designated officer would be appointed as a focal person who would submit a certificate in this regard of ensuring rodent free atmosphere in the hospitals on fortnightly basis. He directed all hospitals to ensure implementation of standard operating procedure regarding ensuring sanitation of all government hospitals.
Moreover, Khawaja Salman Rafique, during his visit to the regional centre of CPSP, said the performance of CPSP council for its development works was an appreciable step in the profession of medicine, adding the Punjab government was taking preventive and curative measures to curb the diseases in the province.
Professor Khalid Masood Gondal, DGIR/Regional Director, gave detailed briefing about the performance of CPSP and its role towards contributing medical facilities to the common masses. He said the services rendered by CPSP under the dynamic leadership of CPSP President Professor Zafar Ullah Chaudhry had given its fellows a respectable stature within the country and abroad as well.
He said the performance of trainees of CPSP could be monitored through e-log monitoring system, adding that countries of the region including developed countries were seeking help from CPSP to introduce e-log monitoring system in the respective countries. He said the demand of fellows of CPSP was increasing manifolds and the degree of CPSP had got recognition in the world.
