Fadi Ghandour, the Founder and CEO of Aramex International, has agreed to become the Chairman of the Advisory Council, IBA Centre for Entrepreneurial Development (CED) on the invitation of Dr Ishrat Husain, Dean and Director IBA. The main purpose of the Advisory Council is to guide and advise the CED in developing and executing its plans, activities and outreach.
Ghandour is the Founder and CEO of Aramex International, one of the leading logistics and transportation companies in the Middle East and South Asia. Aramex is the first company from the Arab world to go public on NASDAQ stock exchange. He is also a Founding Partner of Maktoob.com., which is the world's largest Arab Online community recently acquired by Yahoo.
Ghandour is passionate about social entrepreneurship. He is also the founder of Ruwwad for Development , a regional private sector lead community empowerment initiative that helps disadvantaged communities overcome marginalization through youth activism, civic engagement and education.
Ghandour is of the opinion that out of seven billion people in the world, only 1.8 billion have stable jobs. Entrepreneurship, in this context, is not only a developing world's concern but has become a global story. He said, "We have to pay attention to job's creation, as in today's world entrepreneurs are the creators of the jobs."
IBA's Centre for Entrepreneurial Development is envisioned to play a strategic role in promoting entrepreneurship in Pakistan and to create a new breed of youth and professionals who believe in opportunity recognition and new venture creation.
Ghandour's appointment will help the IBA-CED to enable the new generation of Pakistani entrepreneurs to translate their innovative ideas into commercial viable enterprises. The Centre is operating in strategic alliance with Babson College in Boston (USA) and has also established several local partnerships for promoting Entrepreneurship all over Pakistan.-PR
