The Karachi Port handled 119,092 tonnes of cargo comprising 91,272 tonnes of import cargo and 27,820 tonnes of export cargo including 6,348 loaded & empty containers during the last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Saturday. The total import cargo of 91,272 tonnes comprised 49,914 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,235 tonnes of general cargo and 40,123 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. The total export cargo of 27,820 tonnes comprised 26,469 tonnes of containerised cargo; 651 tonnes of general cargo and 700 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 6,348 containers comprising 3,732 containers import and 2,616 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Saturday. The brakeup of imported containers shows 1,287 of 20's and 1,056 of 40's loaded while 141 of 20's and 96 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 660 of 20's and 484 of 40's loaded containers while 322 of 20's and 333 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There are five ships with one container ships, three oil tankers and one general cargo ship respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There are six vessels carrying three container ships, one general cargo ship and two oil tankers respectively are currently at the berths.
The total export cargo of 20,906 tonnes includes 1,533 tonnes of cement; 910 tonnes of wheat and 18,463 tonnes of containerised cargo. CV Mare Atlanticum with containers sailed out to sea during the last 24 hours, while four more ships namely MV Thor Independence, Cape Flores, MT Sidra Raslaffan and MT Global Peace sailed out to sea on Saturday morning.
A total number of nine vessels viz CV Mare Atlanticum, CV MSC Clementina, MV KPS-1 Alican Bey-Powership, MV Thor Independence, MV Cape Flores, MT Global Peace, MT Sidra Raslaffan and MV Sai Eternity are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, wheat, cement, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as two ships namely Azalea Galaxy and Al Marzoqah with palm oil and furnace oil respectively are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. There are three vessels viz MT Azalea Galaxy, Al Marzoqah and MV Harsanadi with palm oil, furnace oil and chemicals are expected to take berths at Liquid Cargo Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Saturday.
