Bullish sentiments prevailed on the Lahore Stock Exchange and the equities registered gains amid marginally decreased trading turnover. The LSE-25 index gained 11.56 points to close at 4195.26 against 4183.70 of last Friday, while transaction volume was restricted to 5.005 million shares compared to previous volume of 5.872 million shares.
The market was opened on a healthy sign but later witnessed up and downward moves throughout the day. However, at the end of trading, the market stayed in positive zone following buying interest in Engro Corporation, Fauji Fertiliser, Honda Atlas Cars, Kohinoor Textile Mills, Faysal Bank, Bank of Punjab, PSO, Pak Electron and NetSol Technologies.
However, selling pressure was seen in MCB Bank, National Bank, Allied Bank, Nishat Chunian, Maple Leaf Cement, Flying Cement, Dewan Cement, Byco Petroleum, Nimir Industrial Chemical and Engro Foods. The gainers were more than the losers, as out of a total of 105 active issues, 31 companies posted gains, 25 stayed in negative column, while 49 companies remained unchanged at their previous closing.
Engro Corporation gained Rs 1.55, Honda Atlas Cars was improved by Re 1, while Fauji Fertiliser and Kohinoor Textile Mills were up by 79-paisa and 77-paisa, respectively. MCB Bank lost Rs 1.67, National Bank and Nishat Chunian were declined by 75-paisa each, while Allied Bank and Maple Leaf Cement were down by 65-paisa and 43-paisa respectively. Fauji Cement with trading of 898,000 shares topped the volume leaders, followed by the Bank of Punjab with 798,000 shares.
