Prominent nuclear scientist Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan on Tuesday urged youngsters to rise up to bring about a positive change in the country, saying that the rulers had pushed the country into US slavery. "The worsening law and order situation, sky rocketing price, unabated load shedding of electricity and gas and increasing unemployment ratio have turned the lives of the masses miserable," Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan said.
He was addressing a gathering of Islami Jamiat Talaba (IJT) at Jamaat-e-Islami's provincial office in Peshawar. Highlighting the abundance of natural resources, he said that the country had always lacked sincere leadership. Pakistan, he said, could make more progress than Turkey and Malaysia, but only if the reins of power were in the hands of a devoted and sincere leadership. He said that the youth should come forward and play an active role for national progress.
He said that the rulers had pushed the country into slavery of the US and other western countries, but the new generation had the ability to turn the country into an actual Islamic welfare state. Later, Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan also visited the head office of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa chapter of Jamaat-e-Islami and met the party's former chief Qazi Hussain Ahmad and other provincial leaders. The former JI Ameer Qazi Hussain Ahmad welcome him and hailed the nuclear scientist's efforts.
According to the JI's provincial secretary information, Dr Qadir pointed out that 47 percent of voters were youth and said that they had the ability to resist the corrupt people's attempts to grab power. Qazi Hussain Ahmad criticised the issuance of decrees (Fatwas) by scholars of various schools of thoughts and said that a conspiracy was being hatched to keep the youth away from Islam.
