Chairman All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (Aptma) Ahsan Bashir has said trading goods worth $500 million for exports and $1 billion for imports have been on their way to Karachi Port and upcountry since last 10 days due to the ongoing strike of goods transporters. He said the backlog of 10 days would not be easy to manage in a situation when transport infrastructure in the country is weak and ships are leaving the Karachi Port without goods.
According to him, the manufacturing industry, in particular situated in Punjab is highly dependent on smooth transportation and timely delivery of export orders. The government should intervene immediately to resolve the strike of the goods transporters, as it was seriously affecting supply chain and cash flows of the industry.
