Agri Forum Pakistan (AFP) Chairman Muhammad Ibrahim Mughal claimed that Punjab can produce around 17,000 mega watt of electricity from different sources which is sufficient for its power requirements till year 2020. Talking to media persons here on Monday, he claimed that Punjab could easily produce 6,000 mega watt of electricity through hydel sources, 700 mega watt from sugar mills, 2000 mega watt each from solar and wind and 6000 watt by using its coal reserves.
However, he criticised the Punjab government for showing slackness in this regard. He alleged that the rulers of Punjab were only raising more slogans and doing less work. He said that the situation of unemployment, food, agriculture and electricity could have been far better than present if the rulers had planned and worked in the right direction during the last five years. Mughal said that we still had time to utilise the financial, agricultural, natural and human resources of the provinces in a better manner to put it on path of development and progress. He said that the province lacked vision and planning.
