On this auspicious occasion of the national day of Japan, I would like to take this opportunity to extend my warm wishes to the leadership and people of Japan. I am very pleased to say this that Pakistan and Japan have long enjoyed cordial and formidable relations throughout time.
Japan's economic assistance has played a very important role in the development of Pakistan's economic infrastructure. Japan is one of our leading trading partners and an important source of foreign investment. Japan is an inspirational story for Pakistan. We are greatly inspired by the success of the Japanese people and hope to emulate it in Pakistan.
I am very pleased to state that at present there are 33 on-going socio-economic developmental projects undertaken by Japan in Pakistan, and I hope that this number would increase in future because of the introduction of new sound investment policies of Pakistan.
Today no doubt Japan has re-emerged as a modern industrialised nation with a sound economy, only due to hard work and dedication of its people. There exists great potential for further expanding economic and trade relations between Pakistan and Japan. Pakistan offers a big market for investment in different sectors and I hope that the Japanese companies will tap that potential. There are several projects going on which will offer opportunities to the businessmen of both the countries to interact directly.
Pakistan government has announced the establishment of Special Economic Zones where Japanese investors can establish its own cluster to benefit from Japanese investment and technology transfer into Pakistan. We look forward to serve the Japanese investors with commitment, so that Pakistan grows sustainably.
I once again wish the Japanese all the very best for their future endeavours on the special occasion of Japan's National Day and wish them prosperity for posterity.
