Chairman Surgical Instruments Manufacturers Association of Pakistan (Simap) Bilal Tanveer has said that due to prolong and unscheduled power load shedding and low gas pressure the exports of surgical instruments has been reduced 15 per cent. Talking to media persons on Wednesday he said that government should take appropriate steps for protecting the surgical industry from its total collapse and avoiding large scale of unemployment.
The Simap Chairman said that after hectic efforts the business community engaged with the surgical industry managed to enhance the exports of surgical instruments to 300 million dollars but due to prolonged outage of electricity and non-availability of gas the industry was confronting with multifarious problems. It is high time that government should realise the gravity of the issue and take steps for ensuring the uninterrupted electricity and gas to keep the economic wheel in full motion he said.
The Simap Chairman urged upon the concerned high ups that schedule of electricity load shedding should be announced immediately to facilitate the industrial sector adding that government should consider exempting the industrial cities from load shedding for maintaining the export target of the country.
