The young doctors continued hunger strike at a camp set up in front of Services Hospital on 11th consecutive day on Thursday against, what the Young Doctors Association (YDA), Punjab, called government's apathy to pay heed to the demands of the doctors and patients.
The YDA claimed the condition of several doctors deteriorated due to starvation and they were either taken to the emergency ward of Services Hospital or were provided treatment in the camps. On the other hand, the provincial government has shown complete indifference to the protest of young doctors as none of the government officials visited the hunger strike camp to resolve the matter through dialogue.
The YDA has also called an emergent meeting of the general council to evolve future course of action. Meanwhile, Garden Town Police has registered a case against two young doctors Shahbir and Adnan for allegedly harassing MS Jinnah Hospital Fazlur Rehman. However, no arrest has so far been made.
