Renowned businessman Tahir Javaid Malik was unanimously elected Chairman of Pakistan Industrial and Traders Associations Front (PIAF) for a two-year term on Tuesday. Former Chairman All Pakistan Paper Merchants Association Khamis Saeed Butt and former Chairman Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association Amjad Ali Jawa were elected Senior Vice Chairman and Vice Chairman respectively. Soon after his election as PIAF Chairman, Tahir Javaid Malik, while addressing 100-member Executive Committee, vowed the strengthen liaison with government departments.
Malik, who had already served the business community as Senior Vice President of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said that the government would have to facilitate the private sector for enhancing productivity that had nose-dived to the lowest ebb because of unavailability of electricity and gas. He said that increase in exports would also be his priority and to achieve the objective he would be ensuring participation of fellow businessmen in international fairs and exhibitions. He said that he, along with his senior vice chairman, vice chairman and executive committee members, would soon be visiting all the city markets for having firsthand knowledge about the challenges being faced by the business community.
