The city police on Wednesday arrested a man and his girlfriend for allegedly killing a ten-year-old girl after rape. The couple dumped her body in a dry gutter after burning. Both of them also confessed to their involvement in murder of another girl.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Bani Amin Khan while addressing a press conference here said that the city police had solved the challenging case of killing a young girl after rape. "Police have arrested the habitual rapist Ibrar, a resident of Lala Musa, who murdered Shehzadi Bibi after rapping her with the help of his girlfriend Zara Mehak," the IGP added.
He said that ten-year-old Shehzadi Bibi, daughter of Muhammad Ejaz, had gone missing from Margalla valley Baharakau on February 13. "She went for tuition to a nearby house of Zara Mehak at around 1100 hours but did not return," he added. The IGP said that following the complaint of the girl's father against Mehak, a case was registered under section 364-A at Bhara Khau police station and she was arrested. She obtained bail before arrest till February 26 from the court, he said.
Bani Amin said that the completely burnt body of Shehzadi Bibi was recovered from a dry gutter in sector 1-9/1 on February 16. A case under section 302/201, PPC, was registered at Industrial area police station. On the same day, the father of the victim identified his daughter, therefore section 302 and 201 PPC were added in the First Information Report (FIR) already registered at Bhara Kahu police station.
During the initial investigation, Zara Mehak denied her involvement in the crime but later she admitted and disclosed that indeed she along with Ibrar gagged and strangled the girl. Afterwards, they packed the girl in bed sheets and plastic bag. Ibrar carried the fainting girl to 1-9/1, where he raped her and then burnt her.
The IGP said that Ibrar was arrested from 1-9 the next morning after he returned from Lala Musa. He also confessed to his involvement in kidnapping, rape, and murder. Both the accused also confessed to their involvement in murder of another girl. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Headquarters Sultan Azam Temuri, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Yasin Farooq, Superintendent of Police (SP) (City) Muhammad Ilyas, SP (Saddar) Sajid Kiyani and DSP (Sectt) Liaquat Hayat Niazi and other police officials were also present on the occasion.
