Volatile situation prevailed on the Lahore Stock Exchange on Tuesday and the equities registered declines amid slightly improved trading turnover. The LSE-25 index was marginally increased by 4.04 point and was closed at 4362.41 against 4358.37 of Monday while transaction volume was improved to 3.747 million shares compared with 3.268 million shares traded a day earlier.
The market was opened on a positive sign but could not sustain and witnessed up and downward moves throughout the day. Attock Refinery, Pakistan Oil Fields, Dawood Hercules Corporation, Engro Corporation, Highnoon Laboratories, Nishat Mills, Hira Textile Mills, D.G. Khan Cement, Lucky Cement, PIAC, Lotte Pakistan PTA and Pace Pakistan helped market closing on positive note.
However, MCB Bank, Bank of Punjab, Askari bank, Fauji Cement, OGDC, Engro Foods, Adamjee Insurance, Leiner Pak Gelatine, Fauji Fertiliser, Pakgen Power, PTCL and Sui Southern remained under pressure. The losers were more than the gainers, as out of a total of 104 active issues, 24 companies posted gains, 27 went down while 53 companies stayed glued to their day earlier closing.
Attock Refinery gained Rs 7.79, Highnoon Laboratories was improved by Rs 3.21 while Dawood Hercules Corporation and Nishat Mills were appreciated by Rs 2.34 and Rs 2.10, respectively. MCB Bank lost Rs 8.53m OGDC was declined by Rs 3.10, Engro Foods shed Rs 1.50 while Adamjee Insurance and Leiner Pak Gelatine were down by Rs 1.50 and Rs 1.38, respectively. NIB Bank with trading of 677,000 shares topped the volume leaders followed by Lafarge Pakistan Cement with 665,000 shares.
