We are thankful to Almighty Allah for his blessings to complete yet another project ie Darawat Dam. The Project, completed under the special initiatives of the President. Asif Ali Zardari, is of immense importance for social development and economic uplift of the remote areas.
Prosperity of the country, particularly poverty alleviation and progress in the backward areas by promoting agriculture, has always been at the top of the Government's priorities. Darawat Dam Project is the reflection of our commitment vis-à-vis service to the poor people.
It is a matter of satisfaction for the Ministry of Water & Power and WAPDA that Darawat Dam has been completed in accordance with its construction schedule. The project shall prove to be a very beneficial by developing irrigated agriculture in the area. A vast barren land will be used for agriculture by materialising latest irrigation techniques. The project is also instrumental for emancipation of women, as the Government will give land to the landless and poor women for agriculture in the area free-of-cost to provide them the equal opportunities to share the fruit of development. We are confident that other water sector projects will also be completed on time.
