The Karachi Port handled 125,363 tonnes of cargo comprising 97,594 tonnes of import cargo and 27,769 tonnes of export cargo including 2,505 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 97,594 tonnes comprised 6,406 tonnes of containerised cargo; 98 tonnes of general cargo; 7,150 tonnes of rock phosphate and 83,940 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 27,769 tonnes comprised 25,388 tonnes of containerised cargo; 195 tonnes of general cargo and 2,186 tonnes of cement. As many as 2,505 containers comprising 546 containers import and 1,959 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The brakeup of imported containers shows 183 of 20's and 110 of 40's loaded while 3 of 20's and 70 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 630 of 20's and 380 of 40's loaded containers while 189 of 20's and 190 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There are six ships namely Hyundai Highness, Kota Akbar, MOL Direction, Cape Flores, Dong A Calypso and Independence-II with four container ships, one oil tanker and one vehicles carrier respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There are four vessels viz Advance Victoria, Akaki, Kota Anggerik and Independence-II with two oil tankers one container ship and one vehicles carrier respectively are currently at the berths.
There are three ships namely Kota Anggerik, Akaki and Union Ranger with one container ship, one oil tanker and one rock phosphate carrier respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday, while two ships namely Advance Victoria and Fowairet with one oil tanker and one container ship respectively are expected to sail on Wednesday.
There are three vessels viz Kota Gemar, MT Karachi and Dia Dong Sunrise with one container ship, one oil tanker and one sulphur carrier due to arrive on Tuesday, while three vessels viz Ever Result, Kota Arif and Bulk Arrow with two container ships and one cement carrier respectively are due to arrive on Wednesday.
The total import cargo of 20,616 tonnes includes 8,114 tonnes of palm oil and 12,502 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 46,519 tonnes includes 16,275 tonnes of cement; 1,250 tonnes of crashed stone and 28,994 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 2,184 containers comprising 658 containers import and 1,526 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
One container ship namely CV MSC Brainna sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while another ship namely MT Maersk Mediterranean with palm oil is expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of seven vessels viz CV MSC Brainna, CV Maersk Georgia, CV Nedlloyd Hudson, MV Veruda, MV Anthea, MV Asian Express and MT Maersk Mediterranean are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as seven ships namely Julie Delmas, Nedlloyd Hudson, Sealand Washington, Bunga Aster, Bunga Malati Dua, Mighty Ocean and Sea Gull-D with containers, palm oil and cement respectively are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim.
There are nine vessels viz CV Nedlloyd Hudson, CV Sealand Washington, CV Asir, CV CMA CGM Eiffel, CV CMA CGM Wagner, CV MSC Didem, CV Kerstins, MT Bunga Aster and MV Topaz-II with containers, palm oil and cement respectively are expected to take berths at Qasim International Container Terminal, Liquid Cargo Terminal and Multi Purpose Terminal respectively on Tuesday.
