Proud of the love we received from Pakistanis: JP Duminy
South African middle order batsman Jean Paul Duminy has said that many overseas players would return to Pakistan after receiving an eye opening reception from the nation.
Talking to media following a tremendous victory in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) final against Peshawar Zalmi on Sunday night, Duminy said, “Proud of the love we received from the Pakistani people.”
He was the captain of Islamabad United in the playoffs in place of Misbah ul Haq, who suffered a hairline fracture in his wrist during the round matches.
Duminy added that although he did not really expect to captain the United, leading the team to victory was 'an honour' and one of his 'memorable moments' on this trip.
He also reiterated what the most are saying these days that this was the first step towards bringing international cricket back to Pakistan.
Speaking about the faceoff against the Zalmi, he said, "It was an unbelievable experience despite being under a lot of pressure".
"The boys performed well. [And everyone] played well in the whole tournament — be it foreigners or the young Pakistani boys," he added.
It is worth to mention here that the South African international had decided to visit Pakistan — Lahore and Karachi — for the remaining matches of the PSL despite the Cricket South Africa (CSA) refusing to give him no-objection certificate (NOC), Espncricinfo had reported prior to the 'eliminator' matches.
