Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has directed Chief Secretary Sindh and Anti-Corruption Establishment to arrest all those responsible for corruption in Malir Development Authority's Taiser Town Housing Scheme. All those responsible and identified in an inquiry report must be arrested, he instructed.
The Joint Investigation Team submitted its interim report to the Prime Minister of Pakistan and Chief Minister Sindh. After review of the report, Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Qaim Ali Shah has directed the Chief Secretary and Anti-Corruption Establishment to make no distinction in apprehension of all those responsible for corruption in MDA 's Taiser Town Housing Scheme. All those responsible and identified in an inquiry report must be arrested. The Chief Minister ordered that criminal cases must be constituted against the contractors and Director General, MDA, former Chief Engineer and Executive Engineer identified to have embezzled public money. Sindh Chief Minister said corruption and embezzlement would not be tolerated and strict legal action would be taken against the government officials and contractors involved in such practice. The findings of the Inquiry Report are as under in brief.
The Joint Investigation Team (JIT) has completed inquiries and investigation on the order of the Honourable Supreme Court of Pakistan and Prime Minister Inspection Team, against highly significant cases of corruption under the provisions of National Accountability Ordinance 1999 and significant progress has been made on some important aspects.
The JIT has taken another step forward in its inquiry in MDA case under the instruction of high ups and has sent its Investigation/technical team to the project confidentially for authentication, physical inspection and verification of the development works carried out and to record statements of different stakeholders. Preliminary investigations into the whole scam reveal that the said officials misused their position and power and caused wrongful loss of more than Rs 6 billion to the public exchequer as the said money belongs to the poor allottees, in spite of using this money for the welfare of infrastructure development in housing scheme, they usurped the money with malafide intention and even after lapse of decades, no possession is handed over to the allottees.-PR
