Punjab government on Friday awarded Gold Medal to the Chairman Punjab Industrial Estates Development and Management Company (PIEDMC) S M Tanvir for his meritorious services towards promotion and growth of industry in the Province. Punjab Chief Minister Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif gave away the Gold Medal to SM Tanvir at a ceremony here today.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister paid rich tributes to the Chairman PIEDMC for his sagacity in running the affairs of the Industrial estates in the province that helped a lot in creation of new industrial estates and thousands of new jobs therein.
The Chairman PIEDMC thanked the Chief Minister for giving him honour and said that during his three-year tenure new investments amounting to US $350 million came into Pakistan, while 80,000 people were provided with jobs. He said that there were only 50 industrial units in the Sundar Industrial Estate when he took charge while today as many as 236 industrial units are operative and 30 more would start their operations in next few weeks.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Speaker Punjab Assembly Rana Mashood Ahmad Khan said that three years ago when PIEDMC charge was given to SM Tanvir its financial position was very bad but today it is one of the vibrant companies working under Punjab government as Public Private Partnership entity.
