The rupee held the overnight levels versus the dollar and euro on the currency market on Friday, dealers said. The rupee did not show any change in relation to the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 99.00 and Rs 99.25, they said. The rupee performed same against the euro, holding the overnight levels for buying and selling at Rs 130.00 and Rs 130.25, they added.
OPEN MARKET RATES: At the week-end, the dollar fell from a recent seven-month high against a basket of currencies as investors opted to book profits after US inflation data kept the door open for the Federal Reserve to continue its bond-buying programme for the foreseeable future. The greenback notched its first weekly loss against the euro in six weeks, but after hitting a three-month high the previous session investors turned cautious and pared bullish dollar bets ahead of next week's Fed policy meeting.
