The three-day 'Spring Summer Collection Launch' exhibition concluded here with unprecedented response by the visitors and earning good business for the women entrepreneurs participating in the event. The event was held under the auspices of Women Business Development Centre (WBDC), Peshawar in collaboration with WBDC, Swat.
The participants of the three-day exhibition were included incubates, fashion designers from Peshawar while traditional artisan not only participated, but also won the prize of outstanding stall of the event.
Talking to this scribe, Seemab, a young-girl entrepreneur of Peshawar, who was participating in any such kind of exhibition was jubilant over the response of the visitors, which took interest in her products. The products, she said designed by herself attracted buyers.
Jilani, a woman entrepreneur said response of the visitors is remarkable. She said that though she had participated in a number of exhibition, but was very much appreciative of the co-operation and steps initiated by the WBDC for the promotion of women entrepreneurship in the province. President, Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WCCI), Peshawar, Nusrat Rauf was chief guest on the concluding day of the exhibition visited each and every stall of the event, inspected the products and gave tips to the young entrepreneurs for further improvement in their products. The participatory entrepreneurs were also presented certificates.
Speaking on the occasion, president, WCCI, Peshawar, Nusrat Rauf was appreciative of the response accorded to the exhibition, saying holding such kind of events help encourage new women entrepreneurs to come forward and start their own businesses. She said the women of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are not behind any other part of the country in their skill and potentials, but only required polishing and encouragement. The provision of such opportunities, the WCCI chief said will spread a soft message regarding the people and particularly women of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
She said the participation of women in the business activity is must for economic uplift of the country. She appreciated the management of WBDC Peshawar for provision of family friendly environment for both entrepreneurs and shoppers.
Project Manager, WBDC, Peshawar, Nabeela Farman said that the events organised under the auspices of the centre are getting unprecedented better response from the people while the entrepreneurs are also getting opportunity of exhibiting their products on nominal charges.
The promotion of women entrepreneurship, she said is not only benefiting the women, but also generate employment opportunities. She said that they are of the firm belief that the promotion of such activities will help generate indirect employment for a large number of people and will bear good impact on the national economy. WBDC, a project of Small and Medium Enterprise Development Authority (Smeda) of the Ministry of Industries and Production is also going to establish a formal such centre in Swat and has already appointed project manager in this regard. Shabana, Project Manager, WBDC, Swat said that work on finishing of the centre is in full-swing and will be operational soon. Later, the stall of a women entrepreneur of the WBDC Swat was declared best and was given a free incubate for a period of six months.
