Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is all set to show its wave of tsunami ahead of the general elections on May 11, as it is holding oath-taking ceremony of its 80,000 office-bearers, from union council to top level, elected during the recently concluded intra-party elections, here at Minar-e-Pakistan on Saturday.
This will be the PTI's second show of power at rival PML-N's bastion, which PTI Chairman Imran Khan is hoping to set the momentum for the general elections and thus pave the way for a 'New Pakistan.' Apart from taking oath from new office-bearers, the PTI Chairman will announce the PTI's proposed policies and party manifesto to provide road map for steering the country out of prevailing crises.
The PTI has finalised the arrangements for the much anticipated mammoth public gathering, where newly elected office-bearers and PTI supporters from all over Pakistan are expected to gather at Minar-e-Pakistan. The PTI leadership is expecting half-a-million of its supports at the site where Muslim League passed the Pakistan Resolution on March 23, 1940 which paved the way for creation of Pakistan. Khan has chosen the same venue to express his resolve to build a 'New Pakistan.' Around 100,000 chairs are placed inside the meeting venue and all PTI elected office-bearers are directed to bring maximum number of supports to the public meeting.
PTI Central Information Secretary Shafqat Mehmood told Business Recorder that people from all walks of life would be taking part in the historic gathering on Saturday. "It will mark the revival of the tsunami. Leaders will deliver speeches, the young will present national songs and bands will play music. It will be the biggest political gathering in the history of Pakistan," he added. The party management had deputed 5,000 volunteers on the arrangements for the public meeting, of which 3,000 have been give the task maintaining security within the venue.
