Seraikistan Qaumi Movement, People's Seraiki Party and other nationalists organisations on Saturday staged four demonstrations in Multan city to mark the 73rd Pakistan resolution day and demanded immediate creation of Seraikistan province comprising 23 districts including Tank, Dera Ismail Khan, Sargodha, Jhang, Sahiwal, Mianwali and Bhakkar.
While Pakistan Muslim League (Functional), PML-Q, and civil society organisation held a number of meetings to pay homage to the heroes of Pakistan movement and to highlight the purpose of Pakistan resolution 1940. The speakers said, "Today Pakistan is a crucial frontline state in the ill-defined US 'War on Terror'.
Pakistan is, in fact, the most important US ally in this war, and the US needs Pakistan just as badly as Pakistan needs it if not more. The government has been highly unpopular at home because of its siding with the Americans in this war, and has resulted in widespread terrorism within Pakistan.
However, it was the only sane option that Pakistan could take, after all denying the worlds only 'hyper power' when it is licking its wounds and calling for blood comes with consequences, which are best left avoided. However, 9 years of "War on Terror" have revealed new geo-political realities and challenged old ones; Pakistan stands at the most vital junction in its history.
