May 11 Polls: people show lack of interest in election activities

Because of a lack of interest, election activities in the city and other parts of Sialkot district are very dull. People have become silent spectators and adopted a policy of "Wait and See" in Sialkot, Daska, Pasrur and Sambrial tehsils of the district.
According to a survey conducted by Business Recorder most of the voters are reluctant to show their party affiliation and interest in the fast approaching general elections. Overall the election "Hala Gula" is very dull in and around Sialkot and people remain busy in their daily chores.
While expressing their views, men and women bitterly criticised the PPP-led government and said that the government had ruined the government departments and economy of the country and nothing had been done for providing any relief to the common man during its five years tenure.
The prolonged outages of electricity and Sui gas, the increase in electricity and gas tariffs and the price hike are the unique gifts of the people's government, which were just an attempt to snatch the bread and butter of the middle and poor segments of society they said. They questioned what type of services the PPP government had rendered for their betterment to reduce the miseries of the common man during the five years of its tenure?
Miss.Robina Saeed while expressing her views said that the democratic government was left with a legacy of massive corruption and incompetence pushing the country and masses in total gloom. Most of the economic, fiscal foreign and internal policies of the government met with failure, resultantly Pakistan faced humiliation on various occasions she said. Robina alleged that the government continued to plunder the national resources during five years and successfully made a history of loot during the last few days.
While expressing her views Miss. Yasmeen Naeem said that the PPP government despite heavy claims of merit during its tenure had ruined the state departments by recruiting incompetent people in various departments for personal gains as a result the output of the departments was zero. She said that a local federal minister during the tenure had focused on self projection and for this she misused the government controlled the media ruthlessly which was an extra burden on the national exchequer for which she was accountable. Overall the people in general were fed up by the outgoing elected representatives due to certain reasons.
