Gas cylinder decanting is going on at large scale in the garrison city amid the meagre and non-serious efforts of officials of police and other concerned departments to control it. Gas decanting shops can be seen in almost every market of the city, even in densely populated areas but police authorities have turned a blind eye to it.
A group of residents at Mareer Chowk, talking to INP said that police seldom arrest a few persons involved in the dangerous business of illegal filling of gas cylinder that serves no purpose. They said that the illegal decanting of gas cylinder is very dangerous therefore police should launch an operation against it.
Meanwhile, police have arrested three persons namely Yousaf, Noor Jan and Wazir Khan for illegally decanting gas cylinders in the jurisdiction of Banni Police Station.
