The import of mobile phone increased by 1.7 percent during the first eight months of current fiscal year as compared to the same period of last year. The import of mobile phone into the country during July-February (2012-13) was recorded at $459.46 million against that $451.8 million during July-February (2011-12), according to the data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
The mobile phone import into the country during the month of February 2013 decreased by 13.94 percent and 18.58 percent when compared to that in February 2012 and January 2013 respectively.
The mobile phone import during February 2013 stood at $51.088 million against $62.746 million in February 2012 and $59.346 million in January 2013, the data revealed. It is pertinent to mention here that the country's trade deficit decreased by 10.06 percent during the first eight months of the current fiscal year as exports expanded by five percent and imports witnessed negative growth of 2.41 per cent.
