Saturday, Sunday: relevant HEC offices to remain open to facilitate candidates
The Attestation and Accreditation Division of Higher Education Commission (HEC) would remain open on March 30-31 to facilitate the candidates for verification of their degrees for 2013 general elections, HEC spokesperson told Business Recorder. The candidates could visit HEC from 08:00 to 10:00 pm. HEC has also issued instruction to controller examination offices of the universities in this regard.
Meanwhile, HEC has sought legal opinion of Chief Election Commissioner Fakhruddin G Ebrahim regarding degrees verification of former parliamentarians. HEC chairman Javed Leghari, in a letter written to Fakhruddin G Ebrahim, said that the HEC had been in constant touch with the ECP over the issue of degrees' verification.
He said the HEC had declared degrees of 54 lawmakers fake, while the 189 former lawmakers had yet to provide their degrees despite the lapse of two-and-half-year. Leghari said that the HEC had been waiting for CEC directives regarding the verification of degrees of the ex-lawmakers.
