Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is yet to formulate a comprehensive foreign policy in spite of the fact that there are three former foreign ministers within its ranks namely Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Khurshid Kasuri and Sardar Asef Ahmad Ali. According to sources the three former foreign ministers have so far not focused on convincing their party chief Imran Khan to formulate a foreign policy in line with the present day challenges faced by the country.
"It's very difficult rather an exercise in futility to ask Imran that the foreign policy of the party needs drastic review...he is doing what he deems fit", said a senior PTI leader on condition of anonymity. Renowned analyst Dr Hassan Askari said that the foreign policy of the PTI is similar to that of hard-liner Islamic political parties like Jamaat-i-Islami, adding Imran Khan is a staunch believer in Islam.
"There is ambiguity between Imran Khan who is also a powerful party chief and the three foreign ministers...there is no compatibility between them and this is the main reason the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will go into polls without a comprehensive foreign policy in hand to convince the world about its future line of action to cope with challenges on so many fronts including security and economic", he remarked.
