The Karachi Port handled 103,171 tonnes of cargo comprising 73,435 tonnes of import cargo and 29,736 tonnes of export cargo including 4,487 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 73,435 tonnes comprised 25,561 tonnes of containerised cargo; 28,700 tonnes of coal and 19,174 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 29,736 tonnes comprised 24,017 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,100 tonnes of general cargo; 4,619 tonnes of bulk cargo: 1,302 tonnes of cement; 3,068 tonnes of rice and 249 tonnes of sugar. As many as 4,487 containers comprising 2,113 containers import and 2,374 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The brakeup of imported containers shows 597 of 20's and 603 of 40's loaded while 74 of 20's and 118 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 610 of 20's and 370 of 40's loaded containers while 104 of 20's and 460 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There are five ships namely Xin Nan Sha, Kota Gemar, Evridiki, Lodestar Genesis and Doxa-D with two container ships, two oil tankers and one general cargo ship respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There are five vessels viz Northern Drelude, APL Brisbane, TS Qingdao, Vietnam Express and Ikan Prang with four container ships and one coal carrier respectively are currently at the berths.
There are four ships namely Northern Drelude, APL Brisbane, TS Qingdao and Vietnam Express with four container ships respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday. There are two vessels viz APL Seattle and MT Quetta with one container ship and one oil tanker respectively due to arrive on Thursday, while five vessels viz Kota Jelita, Santa Rosa, YM South, Al-Qadisia and Sofia with three container ships, one oil tanker and one coal carrier respectively are due to arrive on Friday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 105,409 tonnes comprising 70,745 tonnes of import cargo and 34,664 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 1,545 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 70,745 tonnes includes 50,660 tonnes of furnace oil; 4,965 tonnes of edible oil and 15,120 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 34,664 tonnes includes 10,962 tonnes of cement; 4,629 tonnes of rice; 1,748 tonnes of sand crush and 17,325 tonnes of containerised cargo.
There are two ships namely CV CMA CGM Verdi and CV Al-Noof with containers sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while another ship namely MV Styliani with rice is expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of nine vessels viz CV CMA CGM Verdi, CV Al-Noof, MV Fhu Tai-19, MV Styliani, MV Faith, MV Stadt Solingen, MV Inlaco Brave, MT Lahore and MT Bunga Allium are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, rice, cement, sand crush, furnace oil and edible oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as four ships namely APL Atlanta, Kerstina, Argent Eye Bright and Dai Duong Sunrise with containers, edible oil and rice are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. There are two vessels viz CV APL Atlanta and CV Kerstina with containers are expected to take berths at Qasim International Container Terminal on Thursday. No ships due to arrive on Thursday as per arrival schedule.
