Anti-Violence and Crime Cell (AVCC) on Friday arrested its official, Inspector Rana Ishrat over his alleged links with banned outfit Tehreek-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in the city. According to AVCC SP Niaz Khoso, police had kept a vigil eye over the activities of Rana Ishrat, adding that he had visited Khyber Agency twice.
"AVCC-CID police killed three TTP men in an encounter and recovered an abducted child from their detention from Mauripur area in December last year, after which police had doubts over Rana Ishrat that he had been involved in the kidnapping of the child," Khoso told Business Recorder. He said Inspector Ishrat has been arrested after police found some evidence against him over his links with TTP. Police have also registered a case against him. Police suspected that he was also involved in killing of fellow policemen in the city.
