The Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) and the 10-party alliance in Sindh will spring a 'pleasant surprise' in Sindh in the upcoming May 11 general elections, JI's Amir Syed Munawar Hasan said on Sunday. He said that his party would "fly solo" elsewhere in Pakistan under its electoral symbol of 'Scale'.
He was addressing a 'Tarazu Road Caravan', organised by the JI's youth wing Shabab-e-Milli. The caravan later started its journey from Karachi to Peshawar.
Talking to media persons, the JI chief said that talks on seat adjustment with other political parties was now closed, adding that his party would contest the polls on its own under its own electoral symbol.
According to him, JI had also ended talks on seat adjustment in Khyber-Pukhtunkhwa (KPK) with Jamat-e-Ulema Islam-F and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and with PML-N in Punjab.
Insisting that JI was a "ray of hope" for the deprived people, he said that on May 11, people would "definitely rejected the slavery of United States", adding that all other major political parties were busy appeasing their godfather (the US).
The JI, he said, would depend on just its faith on Allah and the people of the country in the elections. Urging the youth to vote for JI, he said that it was crucial for the country's prosperity, adding that if his party was elected to power, it would eliminate corruption, extortion and terrorism.
Munawar Hasan also demanded of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to take notice of advertisement campaigns run by different political playing on various private TV channels.
JI Sindh Chief Dr Mairaj-ul-Huda Siddiqui, Naib Ameer Sindh Asadullah Bhutto, JI Karachi Chief Muhammad Hussain Mahenti, President Shabab-e-Milli Sindh Azeem Baloch, General Secretary Shabab-e-Milli Pakistan Qaisar Sharif and others also spoke on the occasion.
