The federal Capital has witnessed surge in crime ratio last week during which as many 32 cases of different nature have registered in various police stations, putting question mark on performance of the city police. In spite of the heavy deployment of police personnel at every corner of the town, 10 vehicles were stolen by the carjackers in daytime, robbers struck at 10 places in the city and looted cash and other valuables worth millions of rupees as well police registered 12 cases of fake cheques during the last week.
According to data gathered by Business Recorder, Kohsar police registered three cases of car lifting, four cases of fake cheques and a case robbery during the last week. In the same period, Margalla police registered two cases each of carjacking, robbery and fake cheque.
During the last week, Industrial Area Police Station registered two cases of robbery and one case of fake cheque, Shehzad Town police registered one case each of robbery and fake cheque, Koral police registered one case of theft and two case of fake cheques and Lohi Beer police station registered one case each of robbery and car theft.
Sabzi Mandi police registered one case each of robbery, car theft and fake cheque, Golra police registered one case each of robbery and car lifting and Bara Kahu police registered one case of fake cheque during the last week. A police official on the condition of anonymity said that the main reason of rising incidents of car lifting, robbery and kidnapping as the Capital police busy in special duties and they could not concentrate to protect ordinary citizens. About rising car lifting in the city, he said that to control this menace the higher authorities needs to ask Capital Development Authority (CDA) to construct parking plazas in the various parts of the city.
