Allama Iqbal remembered: Pakistan founded on basis of democracy, says Arif Nizami

The caretaker Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Arif Nizami said here on Saturday dilated that Pakistan was dream of the poet of the east, Dr Allama Iqbal and it was founded on the basis of democracy. Addressing a function as a chief guest to mark the death anniversary of the poet of the east, he said that Pakistan had been founded on the basis of democracy and democracy would continue to strengthen and stabilise Pakistan.
He said that he was a part of a caretaker setup which was responsible to hold free and fair elections in the country adding that transformation of Pakistan into a democratic and welfare state was their real destination. Minister averred that they were carefully heading towards the election which would be held on May 11. He described the establishment of an independent judiciary and an independent media as a great achievement of the country. Former Justice Nasira Javaid Iqbal, Professor Dr Muhammad Saleem, Orya Maqbool Jan and Consul General Muhammad Hussain Bani Asadi of Iran also spoke in the function.
