Divisional Commissioner (DC) Mushtaq Ahmad Anjum said that the target of purchase of 495,900 tonne wheat would be achieved in Faisalabad Division for which necessary arrangements have been made to keep the wheat procurement process transparent. He said this while inaugurating the wheat procurement campaign and issuance of Bardana at Food Department Purchase Centre Faisalabad Set VI.
He talked to wheat growers and assured them necessary facilities at wheat procurement centres and informed that flaws and lacunas confronted during the last year's wheat procurement campaign has been rectified and the mode of payment to the farmers has been made easy. He directed the food department officials that distribution of Bardana should be fair and equitable.
He maintained that exploitation of farmers in this regard would not be tolerated and middle men should strictly be discouraged so that genuine farmers could be facilitated during the wheat procurement campaign. He directed the food department officials to perform their duties with full commitment and zeal to make the wheat procurement campaign a success. He warned no lethargy and mismanagement would be tolerated and defaulters would be dealt with iron hand. DCO Najam Ahmad Shah said that effective monitoring system has been devised for the wheat procurement campaign under which district, tehsil and centre committees would remain active to supervise the wheat procurement process.
He cleared that the price of the wheat would be paid to the farmers through specified banks in an easy way. He informed that Bardana schedule had also been evolved to ease the farmers and first come first serve policy would be followed. Deputy Director Food Anjum Sardar said that 1.525 million bags of Bardana were available with the food department to achieve the fixed target of wheat procurement.
