Governor, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Engineer Shaukatullah has said that the materialisation of the Iran-Pakistan (IP) gas pipeline project will have far reaching positive effects on the economic development of both countries. Addressing a dinner arranged in his honour by the Consul General of Iran here at Iranian Consulate, he said that Pakistan is already benefiting from the surplus electricity being produced in the Iran, which is provided to Gawdar port.
Engineer Shaukatullah has said that mutual needs based co-operation especially in the fields of production, trade, technological and knowledge advancement can prove of great help in bringing the people of this part of our country with our brethren Islamic Republic of Iran and it is indeed encouraging to witness keen interest especially of the trading community of the province and Fata in making this possible.
The Governor particularly mentioned the expertise of the Iranian brethren in managing quality slaughter houses to provide Halal meat and said that this need of immediate nature of the provincial capital of Peshawar, if materialised, can prove a good beginning. Similar is the case in respect of mineral and agricultural sectors wherein we can derive great benefits from the experiences of each other, the Governor pointed out. The ceremony was attended by vice chancellors of the public sector universities, senior educationists, and prominent citizens.
Referring to various proposes put forward by Hassan Darvesh Vand, in his welcome address, the Governor said, that indeed exchange of delegations comprising students, writers, traders as well as leading figures from all walks of life can be of great help towards promotion of awareness to make best utilisation of the mutually available resources for benefits of the respective nations.
