Power had spent a lot of time playing in Pakistan and was heavily influenced by Pakistani squash player.
He said he had come to Pakistan to support both Maria and the game of Squash. "Pakistan is the country, which has produced several world champions. I wish the international squash return to this country," he added. To a question he said, he said he had offered to train Maria at his academy in Toronto because he believed she had a promising career. He said when he came to know that she had come third in the World Junior Women's Championship in 2009, he decided to offer her training at his academy. "That was an incredible achievement.
