A full bench of the Lahore High Court on Friday restrained Chaudhry Maqsood Ahmad Sulehria from contesting election from NA-114, Sialkot, for being a tax defaulter. The returning officer had rejected Sulehria's nomination papers, but an election tribunal of the LHC had allowed him to contest the polls. He was a joint candidate of PPP and PML-Q. Ahsan Abbas had challenged the tribunal's order before the full bench and sought disqualification of Sulehria.
The petitioner contended that the respondent, Sulehria, owned a steel mill in partnership, which was a tax defaulter. On court's orders, the FBR produced relevant record which also proved the mill's default.
