Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Engineer Shaukatullah has approved the long awaited compensation policy for the affected people in Fata wherein apart from the introduction of financial assistance criteria meant for heirs of martyrs, the amount has also been determined to help those whose vehicles, houses, shops, plaza, patrol pumps, and CNG stations have been destroyed and animals killed.
The police have also clearly defined the process for submission of claims and disbursement of the compensation amount. It merits a mention here that the policy is the first document of its nature in respect of Fata and to materialise it speedily, special efforts are already underway. According to details, all government employees in Fata will get equal level of treatment and incentives which are already under implementation in KP to compensate the real heirs of those who embraced martyrdom.
Apart from this, in Fata Rs 6,000 will be paid for each sheep and goat killed in both natural calamities and terrorism-oriented incidents, while Rs 20,000 will be provided for each cow, buffalo, horse, donkey and camel. However, the compensation amount in respect of shops, markets, commercial plazaz have been bifurcated into two categories and according to which Rs 50,000 have been fixed for Kacha shops etc while Rs 100,000 will be provided to the affected people for each room of cemented markets.
Similarly, the affected vehicle owners will get Rs 0.1 million for each un-registered Datsun pick-up and motorcar whereas Rs 0.2 million will be granted for each such registered vehicles. However, Rs 0.3 million have been fixed as compensation amount for registered Hiace van whereas Rs 0.2 million will be provided for the un-registered vehicles. In case of heavy vehicles, Rs 0.5 million will be provided for each registered bus and truck whereas Rs 0.3 million have been fixed as compensation amount for un-registered vehicles destroyed in terrorism oriented incidents and natural calamities.
