Petitioner seeks cancellation of APML's registration

A bar member on Saturday filed a petition, requesting the Lahore High Court to direct the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to cancel the registration of All Pakistan Muslim League (APML). The petitioner, Afaq Ahmad submitted that since the former military ruler Pervez Musharraf, the head of APML, had been disqualified from contesting elections, therefore, the registration of his party was liable to be cancelled. He said a disqualified person could not form a political party.
He, therefore, requested the court to direct the ECP to cancel APML's registration.
