Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is launching E-Ticket Service on Monday (today), which will enable the voters to get information about their polling stations and voting serial numbers by just sending an SMS to 8300. The service would be inaugurated on Monday (today).
An ECP official said a voter can inquire about his serial number in voters' list, polling station and constituency in which he is enrolled as voter by sending his Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) number (without dash) to 8300 - in reply, the Election Commission will send him block code, voter list's serial number, constituency number and location of his polling station (in which he is required to caste the vote).
The launch of service would also facilitate in term of time saving because voters would be required to give only serial number to the polling officer and he would immediately be able to trace his name.
Secretary ECP Ishtiaq Ahmed Khan has said that the mobile service might be suspended on election day (May, 11) and advised the voters to obtain information about their polling stations through e-service being launched today (Monday).
Meanwhile, the ECP said it received initial report regarding fake ballot papers which were seized in lower Dir area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province. An official of the ECP told Business Recorder that according to police report the fake ballot papers were printed by a religious party with the purpose of providing training to its voters and not for election purpose.
Media also reported that the ECP has taken notice of media advertisement regarding conversation between former Justice Malik Abdul Qayyum and Saifur Rehman, former chairman NAB.
