Seasoned journalist and an-chor, Arshad Sharif, has joined Aaj TV as Director News to lead the channel's news team in special election transmission and beyond.
"Building upon Aaj TV's credibility, I will try to give a new look to the channel and establish hard core reporting as its brand identity," Sharif told Business Recorder.
Sharif has a hands-on experience of print and electronic media newsroom in senior management roles.
Before joining Aaj TV, Sharif was working as Director News of Dunya TV and helped to improve the channel's ratings and content.
Arshad Sharif is among the few Pakistani journalists who bring along a relevant record of academic excellence in both journalism and management disciplines to the profession. After completing Masters in Public Administration (MPA) from Quaid-i-Azam University, Sharif proceeded to United Kingdom as a British Chevening scholar and received distinction and Dean's Prize in MSc Media Studies.
His career in the media industry began while he was still a student in 1993 as a freelancer and he started full time profession in 1997. Since then, he has extensively covered a number of stories for national and international print and electronic media organisations.
Sharif was adjudged as the overall winner of Agahi Award 2012 for excellence of content in reports and programmes by a jury of national and international experts. Aaj TV is pleased to have one of the country's best professional join its team to take up the editorial and managerial responsibility.
