The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Monday, while taking notice of a complaint, has written a letter to federal government for the removal of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Islamabad Electricity Supply Company (IESCO) Javed Pervez with immediate effect and sent compliance report to ECP.
The top officials of the Ministry of Water and Power have reportedly retained the retired CEO of IESCO Javed Pervez without any notification, who retired from service on April 22 this year after reaching superannuation. The CEO was accused of spending massive funds in Gujar Khan- Raja Pervez Ashraf's home constituency. The ECP has already allowed the caretaker government to remove all CEOs or Managing Directors of public sector companies who can influence general elections.
In another move, the Commission after receiving a number of complaints against SP Thatta, who has been accused of favouring Owais Muzzafar Tapi, a candidate contesting from PS-88, directed the Inspector General of Police, Sindh to immediately transfer SP Thatta and appoint a neutral officer in his place. The ECP yet to receive compliance report from the federal government for transferring of Zafar Iqbal Gondal, Chairman Employees' Old-Age Benefits Institution (EOBI) despite directives of the Commission, an official said.
